On the 6th of November in the year 1996, Mrs Diba Roy who is a social worker and a philanthropist founded “Nivedita Nari Sangshta”. She had a mission and a vision for uplifting the social status of women and children in rural areas. Since the time of its inception till date, the organization has engaged itself in many programs and schemes with the support of Government Agencies and local administrative support.
The programmes and schemes which the organisation has been part of till date has bought betterment in many downtrodden and marginalised population of lower Assam, in the field of Education, Health, Women empowerment and nutritional needs of pregnant and lactating women, and children. Our India is a developing country but its rapid urbanization has left behind the rural areas in terms of opportunities and development needs. The rural areas should be given more attention and scope with the support of Government and Non-Government Organizations, Corporate and Private Bodies. This is how our organization is focusing on different initiatives and schemes. The Organization is registered as non – profit (Registration Number- RS/CA/243/43/97-98) under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 and under NITI AAYOG (Registration number AS/2015/0087623), to engage, cooperate and collaborate with institutions and individuals, who support us to reach out to the needy poor children and women and at the same time help us to achieve our objectives and goals.
Nivedita Nari Sangshta from last 24 years has been able to raise itself from just a development sector NGO which works for women and children to a home which supports the children and adolescents girls, understanding their holistic development needs and social status and dignity. The objective of making each and every woman of our society empowered is possible if we start working on girl child and give them a chance of surviving, provide them with proper nutrition, educate them and help them to stand on their own feet which is also their fundamental right. Further to make our vision stronger we would love to thank our benefactors, the supporting Agencies/Institutions and every individual who stepped one step ahead and decided to hold our hands to make it a better India where every girl child gets her fundamental right. We owe our humblest gratitude to all our patrons and partners for supporting us for years and walk hand in hand towards a new dawn of prosperous India with each and every women and child.
Our country is home to 158.7 million children in the age group of 0-6 years. With nearly 20% of the world’s population in the age group of 0-4 years which is the largest number of children in the world. However, with the growth in literacy and economically, the understanding of holistic development of children remains less understood, absorbed, assimilated and more importantly under-invested in our country. The mission of our organization is to focus on early childhood development programs aimed at addressing health, nutrition and the development needs of infant children, adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating mothers.
“Nivedita Nari Sangshta” has been able to extend its services with the vision to uplift the Social Economical and Psychological well-being of vulnerable and underprivileged women and children with both short term and long term goals on hands by working on the nutritional needs for them, Child rights issues, gender inequality, and to further assist the socially and economically marginalized children to pursue their academic education, understand basic health and hygiene, and further rehabilitate and care through different programs and schemes to be implemented.
